Frequently Asked Questions
- Your child’s Medicare card
- Any additional documents or reports from other health professionals or your child’s school
For new patients, we require a copy of your child’s GP referral to be sent prior to making an appointment. For ongoing appointments, if your referral has expired you will still be able to see our specialists, but we will be unable to claim the Medicare rebate for the consultation. Please note, GP referrals only last 12 months, so a new referral is required every year.
For Schedule 8 medication, it is a Medicare requirement that the patient is seen every 6 months. This is why it is important to rebook a follow up at the end of each appointment. The doctors are not able write interim scripts between appointments.
Consultation times vary. However, a new patient paediatric consult is generally between 60 and 90 minutes and a follow-up ranges between 30 to 45mins. These appointment times are at the doctor’s discretion and generally depends on a range of factors including the complexity of the consultation. Allied health appointments also vary in length and will be advised by the practitioner.
Unfortunately, private health funds do not provide rebates for out of hospital medical consultations with doctors. However, depending on your private health fund and level of cover, you may be able to claim appointments. We do not have HICAPS on site and will be unable to assist with the claiming of private health claims.
