About Us

The Berry Street Clinic is a paediatric and adolescent health clinic that provides comprehensive medical, developmental, behavioural and mental health assessments and ongoing care for children, teenagers and their families. Our vision is to provide quality, continuous multidisciplinary care from infancy through to early adulthood in a warm, friendly and professional environment.

We are committed to looking at each child holistically and have the flexibility of traditional doctor-patient (and family) consultations but also are able to offer psychometric and cognitive testing as well as therapy with allied health professionals.

Our Location

The Berry Street Clinic is centrally located in North Sydney, situated in the multi-storey glass building at the corner of Walker and Berry Street. When you enter the lobby, you’ll find us on the left-hand side of the ground floor. We’re just a 5-7 minute walk from North Sydney train station and only 2-3 minutes from Victoria Cross metro station. Metered parking is available on nearby streets, and there are several parking stations in the area. For the best value, we recommend using the North Sydney Council multi-storey carpark on Ward Street.

Preparing for your appointment

Referral Process

All patients seeing on of our paediatricians are required to provide us with a valid referral from their GP or another specialist prior to their appointment. A valid referral will enable you to access Medicare rebates. If you are an existing patient and your referral has expired, your appointment can still go ahead but please note that you will not receive a Medicare rebate.

New Patient Appointments

If you would like to schedule an initial consultation with one of our paediatrician’s, please contact our reception team and they will guide you through this process. You will receive a copy of our intake forms at the time of your enquiry. To then secure an appointment, we require all forms to be returned to us with a copy of your child’s GP referral. Once received, we will contact you to arrange an appointment time and provide all further details.

Follow Up Appointments

If you have a follow up appointment coming up, please ensure you are prepared and have everything you need with you at the time of the appointment. Please ensure you have a copy of your child’s Medicare card with you so we can process your Medicare rebate. If you require a new referral for this appointment, please forward this to us beforehand. If you are unsure about the validity of your child’s referral, please contact our reception team. If you have any updated reports or medical results, please bring them with you on the day or send them to us beforehand.

If your appointment is a telehealth, you will receive a Zoom link the day prior. Our reception team will contact you on the day of the appointment to take payment. Please note that if your child is not present in this meeting then you will not receive a Medicare rebate.

Psychometric Testing

If your child is seeing one of our psychologists to undergo psychometric testing, we do not require you to bring anything to this appointment. Upon arrival you will be presented with a short consent form to be completed. Please be aware that the testing can vary in length significantly between patients. It can take up to three hours so please ensure your child arrives with a bottle of water and a snack if you would like. The psychologist will go over the testing process with you at the time of your appointment and will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Please note that Medicare does not provide a rebate for this appointment.

Speech Assessments

In preparation for your child’s speech assessment, our Speech Pathologist Shanthi will contact you to discuss any presenting issues so she can then determine what test may be necessary to administer. From then we will provide you with our intake forms which we require to be completed and returned to us prior to the assessment. Please ensure you arrive on time for your appointment and alert the reception team to your arrival.
