Dr Claire Mowry is a General Paediatrician who enjoys caring for children and their families from the newborn period through to adolescence. She manages a broad range of paediatric medical, developmental, and behavioural concerns, with particular interests in adolescent health, mental health, and conditions arising in the newborn period, including the care of ex-premature babies. She also sees children with common and complex paediatric presentations such as eczema, constipation, and gastrointestinal concerns.
Prior to entering medicine, Claire completed undergraduate degrees in International Relations and Biomedical Science at the University of Queensland and undertook an internship with the United Nations Commission on Human Rights. She later completed her postgraduate medical training at the University of Queensland before working as an intern and resident at Ipswich Hospital and the Mater Children’s Hospital in Brisbane. Claire then relocated to Sydney, where she completed eight years of paediatric training within the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network across rural, metropolitan, and tertiary hospital settings.
During her training Claire developed a strong interest in adolescent health and mental health, including experience working in the acute mental health unit at Sydney Children’s Hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic. She is a Conjoint Associate Lecturer with the University of New South Wales and contributes to the teaching of UNSW medical students. Claire is also a member of Doctors for the Environment and aims to incorporate sustainable practices into both her professional and personal life.
Outside of work, Claire enjoys spending time with her family and can often be found chasing after her two children, attempting to read the news in peace, or experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
